A Return to the Golden Age

In the 1960s, the Golden Age of hi-fi, top-quality systems were capable of delivering musical dynamic range accurately. High-sensitivity loudspeakers, coupled with high-quality tube amps, (e.g. McIntosh 275 Radford STA100) would comfortably deliver realistic peaks of 110 dB or more. What's more, because the loudspeakers were very sensitive, the 'slam' and speed of the systems were extraordinary.

Contrast that Golden Age with what we have today. Most amplifiers are not significantly more powerful than the McIntosh 275, while the speakers are at least 10 dB less sensitive than those from the golden age. The result? Systems that might be less colored, but are incapable of approaching a realistic dynamic range.

The 550K Supercharger is the perfect antidote to anemic amps and receivers. It allows you to experience true hi-fi as it was meant to be heard.

Same Circuitry as the Highly Acclaimed kw550

The 550K's circuitry is exactly the same as Musical Fidelity's highly acclaimed kW550 power amplifier. Its hallmarks are ultra-low distortion, super quality, great linearity, and superlative tonal performance. It will comfortably deliver about 250 amps peak-to-peak with a massive voltage swing. It will drive any loudspeaker with ease and deliver astonishing dynamics.

The 550K Supercharger is housed in a modern sleek package with a small footprint and can easily be positioned next to or behind your existing loudspeaker.

Please note that because the Supercharger is a monoblock amplifier, you'll need a separate Supercharger for each channel of your system.

You Can Also Use It with Your Existing Amp

You can also install the Supercharger between your existing amplifier and loudspeakers. Nothing else has to be changed or touched. The Supercharger increases the power of your existing amplifier from 50 watts to more than 550 watts. It has an on/off signal sensing circuit, so it is ready when your music is ready.
