This high-end CD player uses modified Philips VAM1202 drive mechanism, special designed power supply and digital system as well as Crystal CS4396KS, an extraordinary 192Hz 24-bit converter, which ensure to be upgraded to read DVD audio disc in future.

On its advanced surface mounted converter card, the player has 24-bit 96Hz converters for a completely balanced conversion, in addition to special designed DC amplification mode.

The left control button does allow you to navigate between the different tracks on the CD. The right button as starting and stopping the playback, the On/Off and opens/close buttons are placed aside the CD tray on the front panel. It is easy to operate, and fit with Reference series amplifiers in Consonance products lines. CD-1.1 has both digital and analog output jacks for different type plugs. The balanced analog output is perfect for use with a balanced amplifier.

This advanced high-end CD player delivers outstanding tube sound. It uses the analog module, modified drive mechanism, power supply and digital system, and has a tube buffer output stage, with separated power supply and chock, after the analog out.

Crystal CS4396
The CS4396 is a complete, high-performance 24-bit 48/96/192 kHz, stereo, digital-to-analog conversion system. The device includes a digital interpolation filter followed by a oversampled multi-bit Delta Sigma modulator which drives Dynamic-Element-Matching (DEM) selection logic. The output from the DEM block controls the input to a multi-element switched capacitor DAC/low-pass filter, with fully-differential outputs.
This multi-bit architecture features significantly lower out-of-band noise and jitter sensitivity than traditional 1-bit designs and the advanced DEM guarantees low noise and distortion at all signal levels.

First of all thank you for the opportunity to have one of the first consonance tube CD players in the USA...


I am just writing you a fast note .. And hopefully my full review will be out in January.


I took the R.2.2 WT consonance out of the box and was really impression the stunning look of the unit .. the wood top is superb and the front controls actually make sense !!!! And the unit is built very well ...
I hooked the R 2.2 WT tube CD player into my set up -- next to the shanling with the upgraded western electric 396a tubes and the sony scd 777 -- and let her start to burn in...I walked away till the next morning...

Well, I wanted to start out with a little female voice so I put in Joni Mitchell live CD in and sat back and pumped it up using the neat little remote control (really fits great in ones hand) and it sounded real !!! very natural great definition..

I then wanted go with a little comfortably numb from the pink flyod pulse cd --
well again the word real comes to mind -- I was sitting at a pink Floyd concert. The staging was amazing this CD player is amazing ...

I decided to do an a-b with the shanling--cd-t100 -- I really like the Shanling cd player -- I have 2 original cd's of Beethoven 9 th -- and decided to give a listen

I cued them both and adjusted volume and i am ready --

well I went to the shanling first -- (i have a remote on the pre-amp that will switch between sources) sounded wonderful -- smooth detailed good staging nice bottom .. then I switched to the consonance -- very smooth wonderful staging and great detail .. but something was wrong --- i really liked what I was hearing but something is defiantly different -- so I switched to the shanling and listened some more --
and I realized it was not the consonance it was the shanling -- the consonace was much more alive --detailed -- not as dark -- it was not clouded ...

I went back to the consonance and there it was -- MUSIC -- it is delightful !!
It is Live -- it is real it is something I want to listen to for hours upon hours !!!!

I then decided to go for the rock -- eric claptons new liv cd -- well I meant eric clapton today !!! he is here playing in my sound room with his band -- it was remarkable ,,

Well, I have not yet tried it one on one with the sony 777 yet but -- I guess I will have to soon .. But its just so hard to stop listening' to this CD player ..

Well my short not I not so short .. but I had to drop you a line about this remarkable CD player .. it is a keeper -- look for my detailed review in January--- and yes you may use this now ...

I Look forward to many more hours of great listening on this consonance R2.2WT CD player !!!

This units are spectacularly built and have amazing sonics. If they were from a top European manufacturer, they would be a revelation. Being Chinese, they force a rethink of old prejudices. People experienced with Consonance products, will not be surprised. Both units have a large, wide and palpable soundstage, with lightning transient ability and the ability to separate instruments clearly across the soundstage. They also give you that "No back wall" sensation that very few CD players do. I cannot think of a player under $10,000 which would better these units. Both sound very similar, but there is a naturalness, an ease and a "want to listen longer" character with the R 2.2 with its tube output stage, that makes it worth the extra money, if your system has the ability to show the difference.
I had high expectations from these units. They exceeded my expectations comfortably.
