The 2000 tweeter voice coil is direct-wound onto the diaphragm to eliminate the typical glue bond. This increases transient ability and creates a more consistent frequency response and improved heat dissipation hence superior power handling - the voice coil is heat-sinked directly to the air-loaded metal diaphragm. The high flux shielded magnet system provides a linear field for the voice coil which is immersed in a low viscosity magnetic liquid suspended in the gap. This fluid allows efficient thermal transfer to the surrounding structure, increasing peak power handling by a factor of 10 to withstand short term transients in excess of 5,000 watts.

The tweeter diaphragm is loaded into a short exponential horn with low compression ratio for negligible throat distortion. the length of the horn coincides with the acoustic center of the woofer to create identical path lengths and time alignment. The horn itself is machined from marine grade molybdenum chrome alloy as also used in deep sea applications where structural rigidity is paramount. The horn's high-mass structure is perfectly non-resonant to launch transients without any smear. The highly polished surface is plated with titanium nitride, a substance harder than tool steel to maintain its flawless luster indefinitely.

The magnet assembly is further mass-loaded by a 3mm thick lead disc affixed to the magnet shield to create enhanced mechanical damping for superior speed and definition.

The 2000 woofer uses a hard-anodized aluminum cone and dust cap for superior stiffmass/mass ratio and true pistonic wide bandwidth action. The thick ceramic aluminum oxide surface not only hardens the cone but acts as a constrained-layer damping for the underying aluminum. As with the tweeter, the air-coupled aluminum diaphragm acts as voice-coil heatsink to maintain thermal stability and prevent power compression. The acoustic opaqueness of aluminum prevents internal reflection problems common to other materials.

Due to the concentric ring geometry of the woofer cone, roll-off by 18dB/octave occurs naturally at 2.6kHz so that out-of-band cone breakup modes are already severely attenuated even without active filtering. The woofer frame is die-cast from magnesium aluminum alloy for superior rigidity and thermal transfer characteristics.

The oversized 34mm voice coil is wound directly onto a 0.3mm black anodized vented aluminum former. The former itself is bonded to the cone with a specialized heat-conductive adhesive to turn the entire coil-former-cone assembly into a heatsink to assure minimum operating temperatures and greatly enhanced dynamics.

The rubber surround and large excursion spider/damper will not fatigue under normal operating conditions but actually improve over time. An initial 200 hour burn-in period is mandatory for best results.

The 2000 crossovers are mounted to the nonmagnetic stainless steel backplates that also hold the terminals and vent in one single dense and non-resonant assembly. The massive aircore low-loss inductors of the bass circuits are direct-wound onto the gas-flowed vents. High-grade 400V polypropylene film capacitors and 10/20w resistors connected with 4% silver solder are all overspec'd to guarantee ideal operating conditions.

The 2000 terminals are proprietary AAD designs and feature a special one-way torque setting with a custom tension key.

The 2000 enclosures are made from 25mm thick MDF front and back and 38mm side panels. All internal braces are 25mm. 3mm lead sheathing is applied to each panel before assembly to further reduce panel coloration.

All metal parts such as grilles, screws and inserts are custom AAD parts fashioned from stainless steel. Each enclosure is laminated in the finest hardwood veneers and hand-rubbed before lacquering.

Two real wood finishes are available: Curly Maple and Rosewood.
