Introducing the NAD C338

Getting the Basics Right

Built with NAD’s renowned music-first approach to audio architecture and amp design, the C 338 is equipped with the most advanced components commonly found in NAD’s class-leading line of amplifiers. Always starting with the details you can hear and advancing from there, NAD develops low-noise circuitry with the precision and stability to deliver incredible, near-zero distortion sound for the most difficult speakers.

Hybrid Digital™ Amp Technology

The search for a high-performance Class D solution led NAD to Hybrid Digital™, an innovative amplifier technology that uses a variable modulation frequency to bring out the life-like qualities of music, while reducing distortion under every operating condition. This highly optimized design gives phenomenal performance to the C 338 amplifier, both measured and subjective.

Efficient Class D Power

NAD has worked tirelessly to create the best performing Class D amplifiers that are energy efficient and produce beautiful sound—not heat—regardless of basic design principles. Using advanced measurements and data, NAD developed the C 338’s highly efficient power supply with a customised Hypex® UCD output stage to pump out 160 watts continuously and over 300 watts instantaneously to meet the demands of the most dynamic music. This new design is very linear over a wide bandwidth and provides consistent, noise-free performance for the amplifying stages with near perfect regulation of voltage.

Always Ready for Streaming

The C 338 has Chromecast built-in so you can cast music, tunes, podcasts, and playlists from your favourite apps on your phone, tablet or laptop to your stereo system. Plus, with Bluetooth® integrated and its added flexibility, your music streaming possibilities are truly limitless with the C 338.

Built-in Phono Stage for Vinyl Listening

Connect a turntable to the C 338 with its built-in phono preamp that applies the perfect amplification to your vinyl collection. Using a MM phono stage and an innovative low-noise circuit path, the C 338 can reproduce the warmth of LPs with accurate RIAA equalization and control the infrasonic noise that is in all recordings, without ever affecting the bass response.

Flexible Connectivity

With a wide array of connections, including a separate headphone amplifier that can drive high-impedance studio monitor headphones, the C 338 is ready for any type of listening. Line inputs can accommodate all kinds of analogue source components, offering ideal input impedance with linear ultra-low noise buffer amplifiers to preserve the musicality of recordings. Also connect a subwoofer with low impedance line outputs and extend the versatility of this budget-friendly, do-it-all amplifier.

NAD  C 328 Integrated Amplifier

In November, NAD will add a new integrated amplifier to its lineup. The $549 C 328 uses a hybrid digital amplifier with a Hypex UcD output stage, and it is rated at 50 watts per channel of continuous power into eight or four ohms. It features optical and coaxial digital audio inputs, as well as an analog line input, an MM phono input, and Bluetooth to integrate wireless sources. A subwoofer output (with Bass EQ) and headphone amplifier are also onboard.

From NAD
NAD Electronics announces a new affordable integrated amplifier, the C 328. Blending simplicity and outstanding performance with flexibility, the C 328 is designed for the music lover searching for a superb-sounding amplifier that can master music sources, past and present. The NAD C 328 has a U.S. MSRP of $549 and will be shipping in November 2017.

In keeping with NAD's time-honored doctrine, the company's latest amplifier offering continues their 'simple is better' design philosophy. This sensible approach contributes to ease of use and maximizes performance where it counts. The C 328 features 50W x 2 Continuous Power into 8 or 4 Ohms and provides a deep reservoir of power that allows your speakers to reveal every nuance of musical detail.

NAD designers have shunned conventional power-hungry linear power supplies and Class AB output stages that waste nearly half of the energy consumed producing heat rather than sound. Instead, they have developed even better-performing circuits based on switch mode power supplies and Class D output stages. Once thought to be inferior to traditional topologies, NAD's advanced engineering in this area has created some of the best performing amplifiers regardless of basic design principle. These new designs are very linear over a wide bandwidth, providing dramatic advances over previous models and consistent performance into all speaker loads.

The C 328 HybridDigital amplifier design uses a customized version of the proven Hypex UcD output stage. This allows for massive power output with nearly unmeasurable distortion and noise in the audible range. Every detail of this design has been carefully crafted and perfectly executed to wring out every last drop of performance.

As a nod to the importance of streaming, the C 328 comes with support for Bluetooth. So, the user can connect instantly to the C 328 with Bluetooth, allowing them to easily stream music wirelessly from their smart device. Because of the high-performance digital circuitry included in the C 328, Bluetooth sounds much better than you remember.

Despite the amplifier's clean panel design and overall simplicity, the C 328 provides a variety of important inputs for MM Phono, Analog Line In and SPDIF Coax and Optical. Bass aficionados will be pleased to know about the Subwoofer Out, while Head-Fiers will appreciate the dedicated headphone amplifier. The amp also features Bass EQ and IR Remote Control.

"Anyone who is familiar with NAD's proud history knows that an affordable high-performance integrated amplifier is what launched the brand 45 years ago," explained Greg Stidsen, Director of Technology and Product Planning for NAD. "With the C 328, the design goal was to produce the best sounding amplifier in its class, incorporate meaningful features while retaining the simplicity that NAD is famous for. This amp is all about performance for the money, and we believe NAD fans, new and old, will be delighted with the result."
